Dua for the Dead 🌹 “Bridge of Mercy: Essential Prayers for the Departed”

Here are some significant duas that can be recited for the deceased, as guided by Islamic teachings:

Dua for Mercy and Forgiveness

“اللهم اغفر له وارحمه”
“O Allah, forgive him and have mercy on him.”[4

Dua During the Janazah Prayer

“اللهم اغفر له وارحمه وعافِهِ واعْفُ عَنْهُ وأكْرِم نُزُلَهُ وَوَسَّعْ مُدْخَلَهُ وَاغْسِلْهُ بِالماءِ والثَلْجِ والبَرَدِ ونقِّهِ من الخَطايا كما يُنَقّى الثوبُ الأَبْيَضُ من الدَّنَسِ”
“O Allah, forgive him, have mercy on him, grant him safety and pardon him and make his reception honorable, expand his grave and cleanse him with water, snow, and hail and purify him from sin like a white robe is purified of dirt.”[4

Dua for a Peaceful Resting Place

“اللهم اجعل قبره روضة من رياض الجنة”
“O Allah, make his grave a garden from the gardens of Paradise.”[3

Dua for Protection from the Trial of the Grave

“اللهم قه فتنة القبر”
“O Allah, protect him from the trial of the grave.”[3

Dua for Entry into Paradise

“اللهم أدخله الجنة”
“O Allah, enter him into Paradise.”[3

“اللهم وسع قبره وأدخله نوراً”
“O Allah, expand his grave and fill it with light.”[3

“اللهم اغفر له وارفع درجته في المهديين واخلفه في عقبه في الغابرين واغفر لنا وله يا رب العالمين وافسح له في قبره ونور له فيه”
“O Allah forgive him and raise his rank among those who are rightly guided. Make his grave spacious for him and give him light in it and grant him a successor from his descendants who remain behind.”[4

Dua for the Living and the Dead

“اللهم اغفر لحيينا وميتنا وشاهدنا وغائبنا وصغيرنا وكبيرنا وذكورنا وإناثنا اللهم من أحييته منا فاحيه على الإسلام ومن توفيته منا فتوفيه على الإيمان اللهم لا تحرمنا أجره ولا تضلنا بعده”
“O Allah, forgive our living and our dead, those present and those absent, our young and our old, our males and our females. O Allah, whom among us You keep alive, then let such a life be upon Islam, and whom among us You take unto Yourself, then let such a death be upon faith. O Allah, do not deprive us of his reward and do not let us stray after him.”[4

Dua for the Deceased’s Forgiveness and Reward

“اللهم عبدك وابن عبدك ihtaja ila rahmatik wa anta ghaniyyun ‘an ‘adhaabih, in kaana muhsinan fazid fee hasanaatih, wa in kaana musee-an, fatajaawaz ‘anhu”
“O Allah, this son of a servant of yours is now in need of Your mercy and You are not in need of punishing that person. If he was pious then increase his rewards, and if he was a transgressor then pardon him.”
