When congratulating new parents and supplicating for a newborn baby, here are some recommended duas:
Congratulatory Dua
بارَكَ اللَّهُ لَكَ فِي الـمَوْهُوبِ لَكَ، وَشَكَرْتَ الوَاهِبَ، وَبَلَغَ أشُدَّهُ، وَرُزِقْتَ بِرَّهُ
**”May Allah bless you in His gift to you, may you give thanks to the giver of this gift, may the child reach the maturity of years, and may you be granted its righteousness.”
Response from the New Parents
بارَكَ اللَّهُ لَكَ، وَبَارَكَ عَلَيْكَ، وَجَزَاكَ اللَّهُ خَيْراً، وَرَزَقَكَ اللَّهُ مِثْلَهُ، وَأَجْزَلَ ثَوَابَكَ
**”May Allah bless you and shower His blessings upon you; and may Allah reward you with good, grant you the same and increase your reward.”
Dua for the Newborn’s Righteousness and Well-being
اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْهُ مِنَ الصَّالِحِينَ المُصْلِحِينَ البَارِّينَ بِوَالِدَيْهِمْ
**”May Allah make him righteous, and make him grow in a good manner, and make him kind to his parents.”
Dua for the Newborn’s Blessing to the Family and Ummah
جَعَلَهُ اللَّهُ مُبَارَكاً عَلَيْكَ وَعَلَى أُمَّةِ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ
**”May Allah make the child a blessing for you and a blessing for the Ummah of Muhammad (Allah bless him & give him peace).”
Dua for Protection and Health
For protection, one can recite:
أَيَاتُ الْكُرْسِيِّ وَسُورَةَ الْفَلَقِ وَالنَّاسِ
“Ayat al Kursi with Surah Al-Falaq and An-Nas.”[2
For health:
أَذْهِبِ الْبَاسَ رَبَّ النَّاسِ وَاشْفِ أَنْتَ الشَّافِي لَا شِفَاءَ إِلَّا شِفَاؤُكَ شِفَاءً لَا يُغَادِرُ سَقَمًا
“Lord of the people. Remove the disease, cure him, for Thou art the great Curer, there is no cure but through Thine healing Power, which leaves nothing of the disease.”
