Etiquettes and General Duas
When making dua for a job, it is important to follow certain etiquettes:
- Be sincere.
- Be humble.
- Praise Allah.
- Send salat and salam (duroodshareef) upon the Prophet (ﷺ).
- Have conviction of the dua being accepted.
- Ensure the presence of the heart and not to be heedless.
- Be firm in the dua for what is needed.
- Ensure that one’s food, drink, and clothing are from halal means.
- Remain patient for the acceptance of the dua.

Specific Duas
Dua for Beneficial Knowledge, Halal Provision, and Accepted Deeds
Allahumma inni as aluka ‘ilman naafi‘an wa rizqan tayyiban wa ‘amalan mutaqabbalan
Translation: Oh Allah, I ask You for a good (halal) provision, beneficial knowledge, and accepted deeds[3].
Dua for Guidance (Istikhara)
Allahumma innee astakheeruka bi ilmika wa-astaqdiruka biqudratika wa-as’aluka min fadhlika al-adheem. Fa innaka taqdiru walaa aqdiru. Wa ta’lamu walaa a’alamu wa anta allaamul ghuyoob.
Translation: Oh Allah, I seek Your guidance by Your knowledge, and I seek Your power by Your might, and I ask You from Your great bounty. You are capable and I am not, You know and I do not, and You are the Knower of the unseen[3].
Dua for Ease
Allahumma la sahla illa maa ja’altahu sahlan, wa Anta taj’alu l-hazna idha shi’ta sahla.
Translation: Oh Allah, there is no ease except in that which You have made easy, and You make the difficult, if You will, easy[3].
Dua for Mercy and Correction of Affairs
Allahumma rahmataka arju fala takilni ila nafsi tarfata ‘aynin wa aslih li sha’ni kullahu la ilaha ila anta.
Translation: Oh Allah, I hope for Your mercy. Do not leave me to myself even for a blink of an eye. Correct all of my affairs for me. There is none worthy of worship except You[2].
Dua for Protection from Hardship
Allahumma inni a’udhu bika minal-hammi, wal-Ḥuzni wal-‘ajazi wal-kasli wal-bukhli wal-jubni wa ḍala’id-dayni wa ghalabatir-rijal.
Translation: Oh Allah, I take refuge in You from anxiety and sorrow, weakness and laziness, miserliness and cowardice, the burden of debts and from being overpowered by men[2].
Dua for Forgiveness and Mercy
La ilaha illa Anta, Subhanaka, inni kuntu mina z-zalimin.
Translation: There is no deity but You. Glory be to You. Verily, I have been among the wrongdoers[2].
