Here are some of the significant duas and supplications recommended for the Day of Arafah:
Dua of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)
“لا إله إلا الله وحدهُ لا شريك لهُ ، لهُ الملكُ ولهُ الحمدُ وهو على كل شيء قدير.”
Transliteration: La ilaha illallahu wahdahu la sharika lahu, lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamdu wa huwa ala kulli shay’in qadir.
**Translation: “None has the right to be worshipped except Allah, alone, without partner. To Him belongs sovereignty and all praise and He is over all things omnipotent.”
Dua of Ali (rA)
“اللَّهُمَّ أَعْتِقْ رَقَبَتِي مِنَ النَّارِ وَأَوْسَعْ لِي مِنَ الرزق الْحَلَالِ وَصْرِفْ عَنِّي فَسَقَةَ الْجِنِّ وَالْإِنسِ.”
Transliteration: Allahumma a’tiq raqabati min an-naar. Wa awsi’ li min ar-rizq al-halal. Wasrif ‘anni fasaqat al-jinn wal-ins.
**Translation: “O Allah, free my neck from the fire, and expand for me permissible sustenance, and keep away from me the wicked of jinn and mankind.”
Dua of Abdullah ibn Umar (rA)
“اَللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ وَلِلَّهِ الْحَمْد”
Transliteration: Allahu akbar, Allah akbar, wa lillah il-hamd
**Translation: “Allah is the greatest. Allah is the greatest and to Allah all praises belong.”
Additional Supplications
- Tahleel, Takbeer, and Tahmeed:
- “لا إله إلا الله” (Laa ilaaha ill-allaahu)
- “الله أكبر” (Allahu Akbar)
- “الحمد لله” (Alhamdulillaah)”
General Supplications
- “يا رحمان، يا رحيم، يا رب العالمين”
- Transliteration: Ya Rahman, Ya Raheem, Ya Rabb al Alameen
- This is a general invocation to Allah, asking for His mercy and compassion.
Forgiveness and Mercy
- “يا الله، اغفر لي ذنوبي التي لا أتذكرها والتي لم أعتبرها ذنوبا”
- Transliteration: Ya Allah, ighfir li dhunubi allati la atadhakkaruha wa allati lam a’tabiruha dhunuba
- Translation: “O Allah, forgive my sins that I do not remember and the sins that I did not even consider as sins.”
Supplication for the Muslim Ummah
- “يا الله، اغفر لجميع المسلمين الأحياء والأموات. بارك على المسلمين. انصر المظلومين. املأ قلوبهم بالإيمان.”
- Transliteration: Ya Allah, ighfir li jami’il muslimin al-ahya’ wal-amwat. Barik ‘ala al-muslimin. Ansur al-mazlumeen. Imla’ qulubuhum bil-iman.
- Translation: “O Allah, forgive all the Muslims, the living and the dead. Bless the Muslims. Grant victory to the oppressed. Fill their hearts with faith.”
